Our Mission
The Willimantic Downtown Neighborhood Association/WDNA is a long-standing partnership of colleagues who champion our historic downtown neighborhoods by working to improve the overall quality of life, promote economic vibrancy, and beautify its cityscape. Our all-volunteer, community-based organization draws upon its partners to effectively realize our mission, which is to support and cultivate:
-
Existing businesses and organizations
-
Public events that attract residents, students, and visitors alike
-
Local arts and cultural assets of our community
-
Investment and reinvestment opportunities both locally and broadly
-
Efforts to improve the physical appearance of our downtown cityscape, including the promotion of public arts projects and supporting developments that highlight our river frontage
WDNA conducts monthly meetings as a forum to share information and support, and provide advocacy, as needed, between and among our members and our town government's leaders and representatives. Always, our overriding vision as highlighted in our meetings, is the economic, social, cultural, and artistic vibrancy of downtown Willimantic.
